Historic Changes to Top Baby Name List Attributed to Kardashian Influence
The Social Security Administration's latest list of top baby names has been released, and it offers a fresh look at which names to avoid if you care at all about your kid's individuality.
Nothing to write home about on the girls' list: Sophia took the top spot from Isabella, which had been the reigning queen for two years running. Emma, Olivia, and Ava remain the runners-up.
On the boys' side, however, lots to discuss.
Anthony's been kicked off, and Michael's out of the top 5 for the first time since 1948 — all because of a dark horse named Mason, who makes his Winner's Circle debut at number 2.
According to the Today Show, "experts" say many parents were inspired to name their child Mason after Kourtney Kardashian picked the appellation for her first born in 2009.
That's right: Enough parents are taking their kid-naming cues from Kourtney Kardashian that her moniker-of-choice was the second most popular name in America last year.
Let that marinate for a minute, and then scream at the top of your lungs forever.
