Robin Gibb, who formed the Bee Gees with his two brothers Barry and Maurice, died today at 62.

The Bee Gees are best known for their iconic disco soundtrack to 1977's Saturday Night Fever, which included hits like "Stayin' Alive" and "Night Fever." The group had nine No. 1 singles in the '70s, but their pop career continued throughout the next four decades.

Robin Gibb had battled colon cancer, a twisted intestine, a blood clot, and pneumonia that left him in a coma. But miraculously, he seemed to be on the mend, surprising doctors with his recovery just last month.

Barry is now the last Gibb brother alive — Andy (who had a solo career outside of the Bee Gees) died in 1988, and Robin's twin Maurice died in 2003.

It's been a sad week for disco. Disco queen Donna Summer died this past Thursday.
