People magazine reports that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are ending their five-year marriage.

This is sad. Divorce is always sad, even if this time around it's only because the five-year contract is up.

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," Holmes's attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, tells People. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

The couple wed in 2006, not long after Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah's couch. They have a daughter (Suri, age 6) together; Cruise also has two kids with second wife Nicole Kidman.

There's no official cause yet, but of course we are joining the speculation that Holmes was tired of Cruise's probable insanity, his probable gayness, and of course, that horrible center tooth.
