AMC Refuses to Take Squabble with Dish Network Out on Customers, Lets Them Stream Breaking Bad Premiere Online for Free
Since Dish Network no longer carries AMC due to a dispute with its parent company, AMC Networks, customers fully expected to be left out of Sunday's highly anticipated premiere of Breaking Bad's fifth season.
But unlike Viacom, which retaliated against DirecTV for refusing to pay higher carriage fees by pulling most of its popular shows from the web, AMC has responded by offering Dish subscribers the chance to watch the premiere online for free.
Those interested can visit amctv.com starting this Friday and register to stream season five's first episode this Sunday at 10PM EST.
"Every cable, phone and satellite company other than Dish carries AMC," the company said in a statement. "AMC wants its loyal Dish viewers to experience the excitement of the Breaking Bad premiere at the same time as their friends and neighbors, and we want to give Dish customers an extra week to switch providers so they can enjoy the rest of the season."
Analysts expect Dish and AMC to settle their differences ahead the October season three premiere of AMC's The Walking Dead.
