Mariah is joining her good friend/collaborator Randy Jackson on the panel and effectively replacing Jennifer Lopez, who has left the show after two seasons. Mariah and J.Lo have a deep, catty history as arch-rivals, and the idea that Mariah is taking over a spot that her (one-time?) enemy has now been there and done is somewhat surprising. However, a reported $17 million payday does make the sloppy seconds go down easier. If nothing else, Mariah will have no time besting Lopez in making good-TV because she is insane and the best celebrity alive today.

In other news, fuck you American Idol because now I have to watch you multiple times every week.
