It's been exactly one week since a gunman fired indiscriminately into the crowd at a Dark Knight Rises midnight screening in Aurora, Colorado, killing 12 and injuring 59.

But for comedian Dane Cook that's apparently long enough to add a few Aurora massacre jokes to his stand-up routine.

On stage last night at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles, Cook told audience members that the Dark Knight Rises' "crappiness" likely left some in the Century 16 movie theater begging for death.

"I know that if none of that would have happened, pretty sure that somebody in that theater, about 25 minutes in, realizing it was a piece of crap, was probably like ‘ugh fucking shoot me,'" Cook can be heard saying in footage obtained by The Daily Caller.

The audience, for its part, appeared receptive to Cook's dark comedy, responding with applause amid hoots and hollers.
