One of Driver's Last Texts Before Careening Off Cliff: I Need to Quit Texting While Driving — 'Because I Could Die'
A driver who managed to survive a scary fall into a ravine knows he only has himself to blame for what happened — he even texted as much before the accident.
"I need to quit texting, because I could die in a car accident," Texas college student Chance Bothe says he texted a friend just before distractedly driving his truck off a cliff six months ago.
He broke multiple bones, his face, his skull, and suffered traumatic brain injuries.
"They just need to understand, don't do it. Don't do it. It's not worth losing your life," he told KHOU. "I went to my grandmother's funeral not long ago, and I kept thinking, it kept jumping into my head, I'm surprised that's not me up in that casket. I came very close to that, to being gone forever."
