Amanda, a German Shepherd mix, pulled her ten-day-old puppies from a burning house in Chile last week, placing them on a fire truck for safekeeping.

According to local reports, the fire erupted as a result of a car bomb that was set off near Amanda's home in the southern city of Temuco. The dog made several trips into the blazing home, removing a total of five puppies from the fire and setting them down on one of the fire trucks.

Vet Felipe Lara said Amanda was particularly protective of Amparo, the sickest of the pups, and refused to let her be taken away.

Sadly, Amparo's burns were too severe and she did not survive. The others, however, are expected to pull through.
