The Expendables 2 dominated the box office again this weekend, but the movie everyone's talking about is 2016: Obama's America, the little anti-Obama documentary that could.

2016 has earned $9.1 million after seven weekends, making it the highest grossing conservative documentary ever, above Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, which grossed $7.7 million in 2008.

I haven't seen the documentary, so I can't comment on its effectiveness. I will say the poster looks suitably scary, especially since it lets you know 2016 is brought to you by the producer of Schindler's List. Look, they're not saying Obama is Hitler — they're just saying.

Overall, it was a crappy weekend for new releases: Premium Rush debuted at 7th, Hit & Run at 10th, and The Apparation at 12th with a measly $3 million. (The horror flick cost $17 million to make.)

While most of these films will likely continue to drop, 2016's buzz should help its numbers. Impressive or not, it won't top the box office, as some frantic press releases claimed.

Next week Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure premieres, at which point all bets are off.
