Robin Williams to Return to TV in New Sitcom from Ally McBeal Creator
CBS looks poised to welcome Robin Williams back to the small screen full-time following a thirty-year absence.
The Hollywood Reporter says the network is on the cusp of picking up a single-camera comedy from Ally McBeal creator David E. Kelley which will star Williams as "an advertising executive working alongside his daughter."
Williams' last regular TV gig was on the show that made him a household name — ABC's late-70s, early-80s sci-fi sitcom Mork & Mindy.
With the Kelley project, Williams joins a wave of prominent movie stars looking to television for a return to their roots.
Michael J. Fox is slated to come back to the medium that made him famous with an NBC sitcom scheduled to premiere next fall. And Eddie Murphy recently teamed up with The Shield creator Shawn Ryan to shop a series to networks based on the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.
