Cousin Matthew Has Broadway Dreams, Could Be Leaving Downton Abbey
Does Dan Stevens, Crawley family heir Cousin Matthew, dream of a whole new world? According to Daily Mail, Stevens bloody well intends to leave Downton Abbey at the end of the third, and current, series.
The article—which contains Earth "shaking" spoilers, be warned—says that Stevens isn't signing a new contract for the fourth season because he dreams of the Great White Way. He's set to star in "The Heiress" later this month.
Said Stevens:
"New York for me is going to be one big adventure. I will be taking the whole family out and we will be there for six months.‘I don't know if I will be returning to Downton."
Some sources, however, think this is merely a calculated business move, with Stevens putting pressure on producers to offer him more money to return. Someone has to keep Lady Mary in baubles and fancy feathered hats, after all.
