Time Magazine Snubs People's Choice Kim Jong-un, Names President Obama 'Person of the Year' Once Again
The people have spoken — but Time Magazine chose to ignore them and hand its "Person of the Year" honorific to President Barack Obama instead.
Despite a valiant effort by those rascals at 4chan to get glorious leader Kim Jong-un named "Person of the Year" — and the North Korean state media's proclamation that Time had gone and done so — the weekly publication instead picked the President to receive the title yet again.
That's right: Obama joins an illustrious club that previously counted only former president George W. Bush as a member by being named "Person of the Year" both on the year of his election and the year of his re-election.
What clinched it for him this time around? Time's managing editor Rick Stengel: "For finding and forging a new majority, for turning weakness into opportunity and for seeking, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union, Barack Obama is Time's 2012 Person of the Year."
As for the runners-up (where, once again, Kim Jong-un is nowhere to be found), they include Pakistani hero Malala Yousafzai, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, and Italian particle physicist Fabiola Gianotti.
