An eastern grey kangaroo managed to make its way into the Melbourne Airport parking lot this morning, where it proceeded to give staffers, police, and wildlife experts the hop-around for two hours before being caught.

Animal welfare officers who sedated the animal noted that its toe nails were damaged, suggesting the roo had been on the hop for some time.

The three-year-old marsupial will be monitored by a vet to ensure it is healthy enough to return to the wild.

Though an airport spokeswoman said it was "very unusual" for kangaroos living near the airport to make their way to Tullamarine, this is actually the second time in as many months that a kangaroo with damaged toenails has been captured inside the carpark.
