Last night, at around midnight, Dave Chappelle made a surprise appearance at the Comedy Cellar, the legendary nightclub featured during the credits to Louie. Considering Chappelle's relatively reclusive history, this would've been exciting for comedy nerds, if not exactly newsworthy. However, after Chappelle performed solo for 45 minutes or so, and was preparing to leave, Chris Rock jumped on stage.

"Aw, you lucky motherfuckers," Rock told the crowd, according to The Comic's Comic.

The two comedians spent the next hour riffing on a variety of subjects, including the Oscars, Seth MacFarlane, Kevin Hart, Prince, President Obama and, at some point, Chappelle reportedly convinced Rock to text Jay-Z to see if the rapper could join them for a late-night meal of spaghetti. The rapper didn't respond, so the duo called and left messages for Arsenio Hall and Lenny Kravitz.

Later in the night, the two discussed the idea of touring together. "After next Tuesday, I'm free for like 11 years," Chapelle told Rock when the subject came up. "I've got time between now and the movie [set to film this spring]," Rock replied. "By Halloween, I could do some dates."

So, nothing definite, but it could happen. Before plans were finalized, another comic, Marlon Wayans, showed up and took part in a 15 minute Q and A with Chappelle and Rock. Finally, at almost 3 a.m., Rock headed home, with a DVD of the club's recording that night to explain to his wife why he was late.

"I've got proof," he told The Comic's Comic before leaving.
