A Diva Is Born: Every One of 2014's Amazing Ariana Grande Rumors
In 2014, lifelike ponytail Ariana Grande went from "that girl from Nickelodeon" to one of the biggest divas on the planet. Allegedly. Throughout the year, gossip stories piled up on this website and others detailing the precious pop star's terrible antics. We loved it! But was any of it true?
In my opinion: I hope so. Let's start with the most recent reports that our lil' human Bratz! doll has been acting like a baby.
Rumor: Ariana acts like a literal baby
In November, reports surfaced that Ariana refuses to speak like an adult in mixed company. According to Star, she makes requests in baby talk, and it drives her current boyfriend Big Sean "crazy." Star's source revealed:
Instead of saying, "I'm thirsty," she'll pout her lips and say, "I want to dwink a widdle joosh." Sean thought she was kidding at first, but now he's had it.
The source added that Ariana also uses her baby voice during sexual intercourse.
The evidence to support this claim is slim. But put it together with another rumor—that Ariana demands to be carried like a baby, and it all becomes more believable.
In December, In Touch reported that Ariana demands that her staff carry her, baby-style, on a regular basis. "She says she doesn't want her precious feet to hit the floor," a source said, claiming they'd seen Ariana get toted around during her "Love Me Harder" video shoot and at rehearsals for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Jezebel has documented the vast photographic evidence to support this claim.
Is this rumor true? Probably. While we can't confirm that Ariana talks like a little baby, it is obvious that she likes to be carried like a little baby.
It should be noted that despite all evidence to the contrary, Ariana's current boyfriend Big Sean issued one of the greatest denials of all time in regards to this story:
That don't even sound logical. No, man, she don't get carried. I remember I was with her one time and she got carried but it was 'cause her foot was bleeding. She busted her foot, like, you know, dancing and stuff. That's ridiculous. I'm gonna dead that right now. That's not even true.
Rumor rating: 5 stars! I wuv this rumor.
Rumor: Ariana attacked Giuliana Rancic to make sure the camera got her "good side"
Despite allegedly affecting the helpless charms of an infant, Ariana can also get violent. Allegedly. She reportedly favors her left side, so when it came time to do an interview with E! host Giuliana Rancic on the red carpet at the AMAs, Ari wasted no time getting her preferred angle. Giuliana recalled in September:
I remember, I think I was at the AMAs, she came up on the platform, and normally I stand on this side to the camera. Little Ariana comes over like all bink! with an elbow in my side. I'm like, "What's going on?" And they pushed me to the other side.
To believe this rumor is to believe the words of Giuliana Rancic, which I do, solemnly. If you're not convinced, consider this video of Ariana constantly turning her head away from interviewers in September, in order to show off her left side.
There are also reports that Ariana cancelled a photo shoot in Australia around the time of the interview because the photographers would not agree to shoot her from the left. She also was concerned with the lighting, reportedly telling the lighting crew that "if they used red light, she would 'kill herself.'"
Is this rumor true? Very likely. Have you ever known Giuliana Rancic to lie? Also, consider the fact that Ariana Grande only has one dimple, and it's on her left cheek.
Rumor rating: 5 stars! Ow!
Rumor: Ariana has a 24/7 water girl
Here is another report that Ariana was perhaps overly-accommodated at an awards show, this time the BBC Radio1 Teen Awards in October. Star reported that backstage at the show, Ari had a personal water girl. A source revealed:
She had an assistant follow her around with a bottle of water and a straw. And as soon as she was feeling a bit parched, she would scream, "Water!" and the girl would scurry over. At one point, the water was too warm for her liking, so she spit it out!
Ariana never confirmed or denied this report.
Is this rumor true? Maybe. There are many things that are possible in this world and this is one of them.
Rumor rating: 5 stars! Water!
Rumor: Ariana dyes her hair every three days
A source told Page Six in September that Ariana "was so obsessed with her hair that she had it dyed every three days, and the big ponytail is fake." Ari has admitted to wearing weaves, but as for the dyeing, who's to say? She did recently display a darker hair color on Instagram.
Is this rumor true? Unlikely. If you dyed your hair every three days it would all fall out.
Rumor rating: 5 stars! I love your hair!
Rumor: Ariana made her own fan contest winners cry
In August, two sisters and their dad took to Twitter to call out Ariana for ignoring them at a meet and greet contest they won with MTV. Arianator Jennifer O'Connor's dad said at the time that Ariana spent "15 seconds with each of them" and later told her security to delete photos of the fans' phones. (Perhaps they were taken from her right side).
We won a #MTV contest to meet @ArianaGrande & we ended up in tears. Disappointed our idol would treat us like this đŸ˜” pic.twitter.com/afeb7irAJv

Ariana later blamed the incident on her dead grandpa, explaining to another fan via Twitter DM:
A fan gave me a photo of me & my grandpa. I walked away because I didn't want them to see me start to cry. I am still mourning, and I wrote a letter to have sent to her afterward but MTV told me they had already left. My heart is still healing and it's moments like that that make it real again that he's gone… wasn't expecting it and [it] hit me like a ton of bricks.
Is this rumor true? Yes. Ariana admitted it. She made her fans cry.
Rumor rating: 5 stars! RIP Pap Pap.
Rumor: Ariana hopes her fans fucking die
The grandpa photo incident perhaps informed Ariana's behavior in this next report. In September, the Daily News alleged that Ariana would prefer her fans to be six feet under. At a Manhattan radio station visit, she "did autographs and pics and was all smiles until she got into the elevator," according to a source. "As soon as the doors shut she said, 'I hope they all f—king die.'"
Is this rumor true? It certainly feels true.
Rumor rating: 5 stars! I hope I die, too.
Rumor: Ariana wouldn't do the ALS ice bucket challenge
SheKnows found this nugget buried in a Star report from August: Ariana absolutely refused to do the ALS ice bucket challenge, despite the fact that basically every other celebrity participated. According to Star's source, "Celebrities all over the world are doing it for a good cause, but she doesn't care. Her skin is a big problem for her and she absolutely does not want to be seen barefaced."
Is this rumor true? At least half-true. She didn't do the ice bucket challenge.
Rumor rating: 5 stars! This is good and reasonable.
Rumor: Ariana's life coach quit because he could no longer coach her diva life
Perhaps the best Ariana Grande headline of 2014 came to us courtesy of Page Six in September: "Even Ariana Grande's life coach can't work with her." It's the point of no return. Even Ariana Grande's life coach can't work with her. The report itself isn't that interesting—a celebrity's employee quit, so what—but the idea is beautiful. Ariana is beyond coaching. She has arrived.
Is this rumor true? I believe.
Rumor rating: 1 billion stars in the sky and only one Ariana Grande
man some of these rumors that have been coming out about me lately actually have me laughing out loud.... đŸ˜‚đŸ˜‚đŸ˜ really can't take em seriously
