Commuters Are Pissed That an Armed Woman's 10-Hour Standoff by the White House Ruined Their Morning
An armed person put a stretch of blocks near the White House on high alert Monday, after she barricaded herself in a building in the wee hours of the morning.
According to The New York Times, the incident began on Monday at 12:19 a.m., when police were called to respond to the woman, who had threatened to hurt herself and others and fired her gun at least once. Nearly ten hours later, 31-year-old Sophia Dalke of Springfield, Virginia surrendered to police in Washington, D.C.
The woman is now in custody, and officials believe she was having a mental health crisis.
Despite a recent threat by the Islamic State that another attack would soon target Washington, D.C., commuters in the nations capital were more concerned with getting to work, said the Times:
Stranded commuters mingling outside the closed area on Monday morning said they were more irritated by the inconvenience than fearful that the episode was at all similar to the Paris attacks.
Some even had to — the horror — work remotely.
Roads in D.C. are reportedly open once again, and you can all get back to your busy lives.
