An eight-year-old old boy died on Monday after he rescued six family members from a house fire and went back to warn two more.

According to police in Penfield, New York, the boy, identified as Tyler Doohan, was the first to wake when the fire started in the home at about 4:45 am Monday. Tyler quickly woke two adults and four children and helped lead them to safety.

Realizing two of his disabled relatives hadn't escaped, the boy reportedly went back into the mobile home to get them. He never made it out. The two disabled adults also died in the fire.

"To go running back in there it's quite something. It's probably not what you teach in fire school, however he did it and that's how we're going to remember him," Monroe County School Superintendent Richard Stutzman told WROC.
