The first thing you should know about Kanye West's manic episode on tonight's Jimmy Kimmel Live is that he had some shit in the left corner of his mouth for a large portion of it. That was very distracting, and made everything he said that much harder to take seriously.

He also had similar lint on the left side of his head.

I can only imagine the temper tantrum he threw when he discovered this. I'm sure if someone informed them he or she lost his or her job and/or a finger.

But anyway, Kanye met with Kimmel on television ostensibly to settle the beef that occurred as a result of a Kimmel skit featuring children acting out a scene from Kanye's now infamous BBC interview. Kimmel regarded Kanye warily and claimed that his parody was not meant to equate Kanye with children, which is some coward shit. Kanye smiled after Kimmel aired part of the skit but quickly resumed his utter humorlessness regarding a person pointing out his considerable ridiculousness in the interview. Kanye did, though, admit that his now-deleted Twitter rant directed at Kimmel amused him. So Kanye does have a sense of humor about himself...provided he's the one making the joke.

What else? Kanye called himself a genius three times ("For me to say I wasn't a genius, I would just be lying to you and to myself"). He pronounced Zara like "zaw-rah." He recalled speaking to Quincy Jones at John Legend's wedding. He deemed himself "fearless" for the aforementioned BBC interview. He said he doesn't care about cameras. He claimed to never have taken part in a publicity stunt, which is true as long as you define "stunt" as in Hollywood stuntman stunts. Kanye West's career is a publicity stunt. Any celebrity's is, and Kanye happens to be really good at his job. He's great at being unmissible. This is why many of us tonight watched a full episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

And then, toward the end of the interview (what interview?), Kanye unleashed the rant in the clip above, which went virtually uninterrupted for over eight minutes. His free verse freestyle included contemplation of his acceptance in the fashion world, an alternate pronunciation of his name ("Kanyé"), a reference to The Truman Show, a discussion of Michael Jackson having to fight to get on MTV, the question "Who do you know who's known more for clothes than me?", fashion-world name-dropping, the statement "I'm not into all that snobbery," occasional usage of the royal we, and a justification of him comparing himself to Steve Jobs, Leonardo da Vinci, and Jesus Christ, as well as musings on classism, Paula Deen, getting spoofed, making awesome stuff, self-esteem, $4,000 phones, and paparazzi. To that crop: "It's not safe for you in this zoo. Don't ever think that I'm not from Chicago."

I'd pretend he was reading this and end this post by saying, "Never change, Kanye!" except I know that he isn't and I also know that he never will.
