Last week, creationist minister Ken Ham responded to a NASA astronomer's estimate that "in the next 20 years we will find out we are not alone in the universe" by declaring the search for extraterrestrials "pointless" because they're all going to hell anyway. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, astronomical badass, went on Real Time With Bill Maher Friday to offer a well-reasoned counterpoint.

What else could Tyson say to a guy who thinks his entire line of work is "driven by man's rebellion against God in a desperate attempt to supposedly prove evolution?"

Meanwhile, Ham argued that he never said "aliens are going to hell" by reposting his original essay, where he wrote "any aliens would also be affected by Adam's sin, but because they are not Adam's descendants, they can't have salvation."
