Anna Cardwell, the oldest daughter of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo matriarch Mama June, says her mom didn't believe her now-convicted sex offender boyfriend had been molesting her eight-year-old daughter.

Cardwell spoke about the abuse with PEOPLE, telling the mag she still isn't completely sure whether June is back together with ex-boyfriend Mark McDaniel, a registered sex offender who served ten years for child molestation.

McDaniel reportedly forced oral sex on Cardwell when she was eight years old but was never convicted of the offense. McDaniel was ultimately sentenced to ten years in prison after being convicted in a separate molestation case in 2004.

Anna says her mother—who was 23 at the time—had a hard time believing her daughter's allegations.

"A week or so after it happened, I talked to Mama and she was upset, crying and saying, 'I don't believe you, I don't believe you, why would you do this to me?' " Cardwell says. "And I was like, 'Mama, he did that to me and I can't do anything about it. You were never there to see it. You were always at work.' "

Cardwell eventually moved in with her grandmother, where she lived until the family began filming Here Comes Honey Boo Boo for TLC.

June has repeatedly denied rekindling her relationship with McDaniel, who was released from prison earlier this year, although a recent photo obtained by TMZ appears to depict McDaniel touching her nine-year-old daughter, Honey Boo Boo.
