Chicago is expected to experience potentially record-breaking cold that a National Weather Service meteorologist is calling "brutal." Much of Minnesota is getting the worst of the "polar vortex" and will see temperatures in the range of 30 below, at which point hypothermia and frostbite take minutes to set it. St. Louis will not be much better. Schools and businesses across the region are already closing preemptively.
