J.K. Rowling sent a letter "from Dumbledore" to 15-year-old Cassidy Stay, the sole survivor of last month's tragic Texas shooting. Stay's entire family was murdered in the attack—she survived by playing dead and kept more people from being shot by calling 911. Rowling likely reached out to her because she quoted Harry Potter at her family's public memorial.

At the memorial, Stay quoted this line from Dumbledore: "Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." Stay's friend wrote on Facebook this weekend that Rowling sent Stay "a personalized letter from Dumbledore (hand-written with purple ink)" along with a "wand, an acceptance letter to Hogwarts with a school supply list, [and] the third book with J.K.'s autograph." Rowling's PR person didn't confirm the details of the package but did confirm Rowling sent it.

Stay has told her supporters she is "on a straightforward path to a full recovery."
