On Sunday, singer, pouter and former juvenile delinquent Justin Bieber turned 21. Happy birthday, little dude!

According to TMZ, the pop star rented a private island for the occasion. Other than that, however, Bieber celebrated his 21st birthday just like any other law-abiding American resident*: by trying his first sip of alcohol ever.

Tastes kinda gross, huh? Don't worry, Justin, I'm sure you'll get used to it.

*Bieber, of course, is a citizen of Canada, where everything is permitted.
