Katherine Heigl Sues Drugstore for Tweeting a Photo of Her
Last month Duane Reade tweeted a paparazzi photograph of Katherine Heigl shopping at one of their New York City drugstores. Now Katherine Heigl wants $6 million.
According to the lawsuit, the photograph in question was a paparazzi shot that originally appeared on Just Jared, an entertainment news website. Duane Reade later tweeted out the photo, brazenly tagging Heigl in the caption. When the drugstore chain ignored her requests to remove the tweet, she filed suit.
Heigl, who has been paid to endorse products like ZzzQuil and the e-cigarette Smokestik, says in the lawsuit that the drugstore misappropriated her "highly selective and well compensated" image.
Heigl plans to donate the money to charity if she wins.
