The “Queen of Christmas” (or so this press release tells me) Mariah Carey appeared on last night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live. During the show, host Andy Cohen Glitter bombed her, making her sit through a reel of highlights from her infamous 2001 vanity project flop.

She later revealed that after Glitter came and wreaked havoc on her career, you couldn’t even mention it around her — it was known as “the G word.” So sitting through this and entertaining the subject at all bespeaks a certain sense of humor about herself (she called it a “kitsch moment in history...in the history of my life”). However, she did blame its disastrous box office in part on its 9/11 release date, even though that’s not exactly true. (The soundtrack was released on September 11, 2001, which was a Tuesday. The movie was released two Fridays later, September 21, 2001.) Whenever she says this (this isn’t the first time), I feel like she’s trying to get on Snopes. It reminds me of that time that she didn’t say, “When I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can’t help but cry. I mean, I’d love to be skinny like that, but not with all those flies and death and stuff.” Except she did say this. But it doesn’t feel like real life. Girl, stop. That movie was clearly flopping well before its release. Terrorist attacks or no terrorist attacks, it was clearly shaping up to be a lambs-only affair.

She redeemed herself when Cohen asked her to say three nice things about her longtime adversary Eminem and she instead said three nice things about the candy M&Ms. That Mariah throws shade like nobody’s business. She is a master of saying nothing and everything about a person. Look at what she said about Nicki Minaj. And Jennifer Lopez:

Once the yuletide season is over, her official title reverts back to Queen of Shade.
