Things are getting downright silly in the fight to depose San Diego Mayor Bob Filner, who currently stands accused of sexual harassment by more than a dozen women. In order to try and sate his critics, Filner promised to do a two-week stint of "intensive therapy," which he completed on Friday. When Filner got back to his office, however, he discovered that his chief of staff had changed the locks.

Despite the lockout shenanigans, Filner is still the mayor of San Diego. He remains steadfast, despite calls for his resignation from all nine city council members and both U.S. senators from California.

There is now a recall effort underway to try and obtain 100,000 signatures in order to force Filner's mayorship to be put up to a new vote. Michael Pallamary, who is heading up the recall group, told CNN, "San Diegans want a mayor that doesn't grope and demean women, who doesn't abuse his office to satisfy a perverted quest for a sense of power, and who has the ability to lead our great city—an ability Filner can never, ever reclaim."

Update: This post has been updated to reflect that the entire San Diego City Council is now calling for Filner to resign.

Update 2: Reader SourPina points us to Filner's chief of staff, Lee Burdick, telling the Voice of San Diego's Sara Libby why she changed the mayor's locks: "My concern is/was that if anything was removed while the Mayor was away, it could raise all kinds of questions about preservation or spoliation of potential evidence."
