Canadian music legend Neil Young has filed for divorce from his wife, Pegi Young, Rolling Stone reports. The pair had been married for 36 years.

Pegi frequently collaborated with Young on his songs, and often served as an inspiration for his music. In 1986, she and Young cofounded the Bridge School, a school aimed at educating children with emotional and physical disabilities. The couple opened the school as a way to find a suitable place to educate their son Ben.

As well as her musical collaborations with Young, Pegi toured frequently on her own. As Rolling Stone reports, the two were scheduled to perform together on September 13.

Neil recently wrapped up a European Crazy Horse tour and is slated to play American solo acoustic dates in October. Pegi just concluded a brief U.S. club tour. They were both slated to play Farm Aid in Raleigh, North Carolina, on September 13th, though Pegi's name was recently removed from the lineup.

The last time Neil and Pegi Young performed together was at the Bridge School Benefit in 2013. The pair have three children together. The case is expected to go to court on December 12.
