Neil Young's Very Expensive Electric Car Broke Down in the Desert

Camille Dodero · 09/03/13 12:30PM

Neil Young has understandably made a very big deal out of his one-of-a-kind LincVolt, a 1959 Lincoln Continental convertible that's been retrofitted into an electric car. The Canadian icon has been driving the one-million-dollar prototype around North America, intermittently documenting his trips, all in a concerted effort to promote green energy. He probably wasn't documenting the experience two Fridays ago, when the LincVolt broke down in the Sierra Nevadas, and he was momentarily stranded.

Neil Young Fans Suddenly Love War

ian spiegelman · 06/14/08 12:00PM

Despite four decades of feverishly anti-establishment rocking by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, fans are showing up at concerts and booing the rock veterans for performing anti-war tunes. They've even been mraching out en masse in protest against songs like "Ohio" and "Military Madness." "The forthcoming documentary 'CSNY: Deja Vu' charts that friction, portraying fans who saluted the group's efforts and those who felt betrayed by them, while introducing viewers to Iraqi War vets who are now protesting the war as musicians, politicians and social workers. Directed by Young and due in theaters July 25, the film blends concert and behind-the-scenes footage with short news features created by CNN correspondent Mike Cerre."

Neil Young versus the bloggers at JavaOne

Jackson West · 05/06/08 07:20PM

As part of Neil Young's appearance at Sun's JavaOne conference, groups of hacks were herded into a conference room to ask questions of the aging rock legend, presumably about how awesome Java is, but I think the plan is that Java is just awesome because Young says so, and he trotted out an expansive interactive discography powered by the Java functionality built into Sony's Blu-ray hardware and a clean car project with telemetrics powered by Sun-sponsored software. Because I doubt there's anything baby boomer executives and the formerly flannel-shirted Gen-X set they spawned like more than getting the most out of their cars and home theater systems. Except maybe hearing Young pontificate on the virtues of an all-analog recording process.

Electronic Arts wants its games on Facebook

Mary Jane Irwin · 02/12/08 12:57AM

Electronic Arts is learning to ask questions like "What is your sex song?" and "Hottie" requests. That's right, the videogames giant is leaping into the world of Facebook applications. Former EA Los Angeles general manager Neil Young is in charge of a "stealth division" believed to be EA Blueprint, which will develop and publish games to social networks. At least someone who knows what they're doing will be making games for the network. But if these rumors pan out, this at least sheds a bit more light on the threatened shutdown of Scrabulous.
