Late Monday night, a man in Concord, New Hampshire awoke in a panic, startled by a dream he'd had in which he'd heard a loud gunshot. He then realized he was standing in the middle of his kitchen, holding a gun, and bleeding from one of his knees.

The man, whose name has not been released, had apparently been sleepwalking though his home when he found his gun and carried it to the kitchen, where he then shot himself in the knee. Or at least that's what police think happened.

"The only witness was the person who was shot, and it sounds like he doesn't know exactly what happened," Concord police Lt. Timothy O'Malley told WMUR.

Once he realized he was shot/had shot himself, the man, who was home alone, called his wife at work. She called 911 and the man was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, though they aren't believed to be life threatening.

“This is a good opportunity to remind our citizens of safe storage of weapons and other practices,” Concord Polic Chief John Duval told the Concord Monitor, adding that he doesn't expect charges to be filed. “If this is an accident, accidents do happen.”
