Thanks to the talented artists at the New York State police, we now know what convicted murderers Richard Matt and David Sweat might look 12 days after their escape: kinda scruffy and rugged.

The progression photo was released this morning, just before law enforcement officials gave updates about the sprawling manhunt at a press conference. Basically: police still have no idea where Sweat and Matt are, despite having searched more than 10,000 acres. NBC News reports that authorities have not received a new credible lead in more than four days. (Perhaps the police should spend less time wasting time, and more time searching Gawker.com for clues—and entertainment.)

The only arrest in the case remains poor Joyce “Tillie” Mitchell. At the press conference this afternoon, District Attorney Andrew Wylie confirmed reports about Mitchell’s alleged plot to have the inmates kill her husband. “The information we have from Joyce Mitchell is that that plot had occurred,” Wylie said. “And that’s all I’ll speak about.”
