North Korea Poetically Launched a Rocket "Trailing in the Clear and Blue Sky in Spring"
North Korea confirmed on Sunday that it launched a satellite into space in the early morning, calling the move “peaceful,” despite no one believing that for a second.
The move, which came on the heels of a reported hydrogen bomb testing in the country last month, prompted the United States, South Korea and Japan to call for an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council, according to CNN.
The Kwangmyongsong carrier rocket launch was reportedly ordered by Kim Jong Un himself. The launch was described to North Koreans on the country’s state media, according to BBC.
