A suspect taken into custody for allegedly shooting at the National Security Agency building in Fort Meade, Maryland, may be linked to a string of other recent shootings in the area, according to the FBI.

Anne Arundel County police apprehended the unnamed suspect late last night for the shooting, which caused no injuries but may have damaged the NSA's headquarters building.

An FBI spokesperson wrote in a statement that the gunman may also be responsible for shooting a dump truck that was driving nearby earlier Tuesday, as well as for shootings at "other locations around the Baltimore-Washington metro area in the last two weeks." One of the truck's occupants was hit with a bullet that was blocked by his clothing, and the other was struck by broken glass, according to local CBS outlet WUSA.

The Baltimore Sun's Justin Fenton reports that the other linked shootings may include recent incidents at a Walmart, a movie theater, and the Arundel Mills shopping mall:

The first incident occurred last Tuesday when shots were fired at a vehicle driving through the Arundel Mills shopping complex. Police at the time said a 61-year-old driver had his windows shot out while driving on Arundel Mills Boulevard at about 7:30 a.m., and on Saturday released video of the Town Car.

On Monday, police received reports of shots fired at a Walmart in Laurel and at the AMC Theater at The Mall in Columbia. In the Columbia incident, Howard County police said that a member of a cleaning crew at the theater heard the shots at about 5:10 a.m.

According to the Sun's law enforcement sources, a blue-gray Lincoln Town Car appears in surveillance footage taken at several of the crime scenes.
