A recent Yale graduate reportedly jumped to his death this morning from the window of a ninth-floor New Haven apartment after he stabbed a former classmate.

The Yale Daily News reports that Tyler Carlisle, who graduated from Yale last week, allegedly stabbed Alexander Michaud, class of 2017, in a unit at the Taft Apartments and then jumped from the apartment’s window, landing on a third-floor terrace. From WTNH:

Carlisle was found dead on the third floor terrace. Michaud was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he is in stable condition.

A News 8 photographer was on the scene where he says a distraught woman was taken away in an ambulance after leaving Taft Apartments. He also said there was police tape from the apartments all the way down the street to the Schubert Music Hall.

Michaud and Carlisle knew each other—the Daily Mail reports both were from Manchester, New Hampshire, and the Daily News reports that both belonged to a conservative Yale Political Union group called Party of the Right. According to Carlisle’s LinkedIn, his “primary interests [included] political theory and defending a coherent and cohesive justification for Conservative politics.”
