Red Robin Worker With Hepatitis A May Have Exposed 5,000 People
An employee of burger chain Red Robin worked for several months with a contagious case of Hepatitis A, exposing as many as 5,000 people who passed through a Springfield, Missouri location to the infection.
Red Robin wouldn't say where in the restaurant the infected employee worked, but did confirm that the person last worked on May 16. The company advised anyone who ate there between May 8 and May 16 to call the health department for advice.
Hep A can be transmitted through food and water, and its symptoms include everything from fever and dark urine to liver failure and death.
All employees at the Springfield Red Robin have been vaccinated for the infection, and the Springfield-Greene County health department has set up a two-day vaccination clinic Thursday and Friday at a large entertainment complex in the area. 4,000 doses of the vaccine are being shipped there.
A statement from Red Robin said the employee won't return to work without medical clearance.
