San Diego Mayor Bob Filner has flown the coop from two weeks of therapy designed to help him combat his urge to sexually harass women all the time. Filner was initially scheduled to be in therapy until August 19, but his chief of staff told reporters that the mayor started the program early and is now done.
Not coming to anyones defense here, but I would take a look at his long career in politics, the lack of previous assault claims during which, and his advanced age [over 70?] and make a possible conclusion that he's mentally damaged by something.
Which would explain the sudden departure [paranoia maybe] and the utterly stupid sexual aggression.
I hate to say this, but I've seen something like this in one of my own elderly family members.

I don’t know, it seems perfectly reasonable to insist that someone take responsibility for his actions, while acknowledging that mental illness can impair one’s control over, and responsibility for, one’s actions.
This guy was a goddamn Freedom Rider in his youth. It's depressing to see he turned his back on the basic ideals of justice and mutual respect they stood for.

He had to leave...he found out they were serious about changing his attitude and behavior towards women. This was in direct contradiction to his own objectives.
No, he had to leave because he had harassed all the staff and patients and was really bored.

Ugh, maybe I'm projecting from personal experience, but this smacks of addict behavior. "They discharged me from rehab early because I don't need it!" Either Filner's too deep in himself to listen or nobody's giving him good advice.
