Sleeping Boston Driver Jumps His Truck off the Top Deck of I-93
In a car crash straight of your worst childhood fears, a pickup truck heading north on the top level of Interstate 93 near Boston hit a snow bank and flew off the freeway, landing in the southbound lane of the lower deck.
The driver, 33-year-old Vannak Sao, survived the fall and was pulled out of the truck by emergency workers. He was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital, Fox Boston reported.
Fortunately, there weren't a lot of other cars on the road when Sao fell asleep at the wheel just before 6:30 a.m. Sunday. No one else was hurt.
"I remember falling asleep. I remember hitting the snowbank and kind of rattling a little bit. I woke up to the paramedics," he told Fox Boston, explaining that, "It was a mixture of drinking and being tired."
He's been charged with driving under the influence, and his license has been revoked.
Here's another angle on the crash, and a view from the lower deck as the truck landed:
Just fucking terrifying.
