As with any jingoistic carnival worth enduring, the content ostensibly central to Tuesday’s GOP debate was far overshadowed by that which seemed to be at its periphery: the commercials.

In addition to promos for Michael Bay’s terror-porn action-thriller 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, the trailer for this horrible-looking movie about football and hope “from the writer of RUDY and HOOSIERS” played, too.

Mustard cardigans: good for Aaron Eckhardt; good for America.

The conservative American Action Network ran this beautifully-framed, Soviet-themed, anti-Elizabeth Warren ad about the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Riveting stuff!

Also CNN bought a weird amount of airtime? Overall, an improvement over the ads around the debate in October, at least.
