Barista-slash-singer-slash-songwriter-slash-designer-slash-photographer-slash-producer-slash-what-else-you've-got Brody "Odag" Ryan Curtis — better known as the original #StarbucksDrakeHands guy — officially broke his silence yesterday on Inside Edition, where he told a decidedly different meet-cute story than the one being spread around by Studio City model Piper Kennedy.

Piper and her friends have been running all over the Internet claiming that she met Brody in the West Hollywood Starbucks where he works, and that she was reluctant to give him her number but eventually did, only to receive the now-infamous StarbucksDrakeHands video selfie a few hours later.

But, to hear Brody tell it, the two had actually met through a "social dating app" and had been chatting for quite some time before the fated selfie text.

In fact, Brody told Inside Edition the two have never met in person.

After sending photos and text messages back and forth several times, Piper "suddenly fell off," Brody recalled. "And I'm like sitting here like, 'what the heck?,' I'm like going all over my texts, like, 'I didn't say anything wrong.' I did absolutely nothing wrong."

Two weeks later, after attempting to reconnect with Piper, Brody decided it was a lost cause and, together with some friends, came up with the "Drake Hands" thing.

"We were trying to be cute, comical, not really caring what her reaction was," Brody said. "We intended to make her laugh, and in the end we made the entire world laugh."

Brody insists Piper is not being truthful when she says the two met at Starbucks, but adds that he would have "loved" to have met her and taken her out (or in) for coffee.

And he may yet get the chance to do that.

On Ryan Seacrest's radio show this week, Piper said, "I’m sure that we will end up seeing each other again at some point because there are people wanting to see us together in person."

Speaking with The Daily Mail the day before, Piper was even more decisive.

"We do need to see each other in person," she said. "There could be a funny friendship because it was such a unique way to meet somebody."

Whether or not these star-crossed lovers end up with each other or not, Brody is certainly making the most of his accidental fame (which, not entirely incidentally, is his stage name).

"For all bookings please email bookbrody[at]gmail.com," he tweeted last night. "Thanks truly humbled by what's going on in my life right now. #starbucksdrakehands"
