It's been three months since we compiled a list of the 20 most expensive apartments for sale in Manhattan. So what's happened to them since then? Not surprisingly, most of them remain on the market, and several have been discounted substantially since they were first put up for sale. (Just one of the 20 sold successfully, an apartment at 176 Perry that went for 30 percent less than its initial asking price.) The grim market conditions haven't stopped several others from putting their exorbitant homes on the market. Since we put the list together, a 78th-floor penthouse at the Time Warner Center hit the market for $65 million and a $47.5 million listing at 15 CPW surfaced. But if you're interested in seeing what happened to the original 20—and get a glimpse for what's happening to the high-end real estate market as a whole—the results are below.

• Several top brokers have reportedly visited Bernie and Ruth Madoff's penthouse at 133 East 64th Street to assess its value in anticipation of a sale. The four-bedroom, five-bathroom apartment could go for $8 million or so. [NYP]
• The Sloane Mansion has undergone a $10 million price cut. It's now listed with Paula Del Nunzio for $54 million. [NYO, BHS]
• Investor Amit Ben-Haim's penthouse at 15 CPW, which was listed at $80 million last year before it was taken off the market, is now sporting a much more modest $47.5 million price tag. [Real Estalker, Sotheby's]

• Lee Neibart, a senior partner at William Mack's Apollo Real Estate Advisors, and his wife Joyce, have paid $7 million for a three-bedroom apartment on the 16th floor of 15 Central Park West. [Cityfile]
• That was quick. James Nicholson, who paid $27 million for John and Lauren Veronis' Meadow Lane home earlier this month, has already put the property back on the market. It's now listed at $33 million, believe it or not. [Newsday, Sotheby's]
• Journalist Cathleen Trigg-Jones and her husband, plastic surgeon Michael Jones, have listed their 10-bedroom townhouse at 430 West 147th Street for $4 million. [NYP, PDE]

• The 7,000-square-foot penthouse duplex at 1020 Fifth Avenue that's been on and off the market in recent years and was most recently priced at $46.5 million, has undergone a price cut. The five-bedroom spread, owned by heirs to the Kress retail fortune, is now listed at $39 million. [Cityfile, Corcoran]
• Wesley Vultaggio, who works at AriZona, the beverage company his father co-founded, has paid $6 million for a apartment at 47 Mercer Street. [Cityfile]
• Umberto Arpaia, the chef/owner of Cellini in Midtown and brother of fellow restaurateur Donatella Arpaia, paid $4.85 million for an 18-foot-wide townhouse at 242 East 68th Street. [Cityfile]

• Guy Metcalfe isn't having much luck flipping the apartment at 15 CPW he purchased in October for $9.35 million. Two weeks after closing on the second-floor unit, the Morgan Stanley exec put the apartment on the market for $16.5 million, cutting it down to $13.75 million in December. Now Metcalfe is chopping again: The pad is currently listed at $12.5 million. [Cityfile, Corcoran]
• Jason Capello, a partner until 2007 at Dwight Anderson's (now-doomed) hedge fund, Ospraie Management, has sold his 72nd-floor condo at the Time Warner Center for $16.25 million. [Cityfile]
• Hedge funder Steven Stuart, who left Fortress to co-found the Garrison Investment Group in 2007, has taken $1 million off the price of his 35th-floor apartment at the Park Laurel on West 63rd Street. The four-bedroom spread is now listed at $9.8 million. [Cityfile, Corcoran]

• Marquis Jets co-founder Jesse Itzler and his wife, Spanx CEO Sara Blakely, have closed on the sale of their 14th-floor pad at 15 Central Park West for $8.7 million. That's a million less than their asking price, but $200,000 more than what they paid for it last March. [Cityfile]
• Leo Tilman, who was Bear Stearns' chief institutional strategist before starting up his own advisory firm, has paid $3.5 million for a condo at Tribeca's 101 Warren Street. [Cityfile]
• Sameer Nath, who heads up M&A for Citigroup in India, paid $4.4 million for a penthouse apartment at 1 River Terrace in Battery Park City. [Cityfile]

• Paul and Carol Kleinberg, the founders of the electrical contracting firm that bears their name, paid $9 million for a penthouse apartment at 520 West 19th Street. [Cityfile]
• Casino developer Richard Fields is selling his 38th-floor apartment at 15 CPW for $27 million. The flip will yield him double what he paid for the place in June, but it's $8 million less than what he was looking for when he first listed it in September. [Real Deal]
• Peter Lusk, the former COO at Tony Forstmann's private equity firm Forstmann-Leff International, and his wife Jeanne, have sold their 15th-floor co-op at 1 East 66th Street for $7 million. [Cityfile]

• Writer/director John Ridley paid $6.65 million for a three-bedroom apartment at 15 Central Park West in July, relisting it just a few days later for $13 million. He seems to have had a reality check: He's dropped the price down to $9.995 million. [WSJ, Corcoran]
• Scott Kleinman, a partner at Leon Black's Apollo Management, has paid $5.8 million for a 20th-floor apartment at 15 Madison Square North. [Cityfile]
• Goldman Sachs managing director Tim Furey and his wife Catherine paid $3.145 million for a seventh-floor condo at 215 West 88th Street. [Cityfile]

• Natasha Lyonne has sold her penthouse studio in the Gramercy Towers on East 16th Street for $440,000. The once-troubled actress is now renting in the East Village. [NYP]
• The owners of two 15 CPW condos who listed their ninth-floor apartments as part of a package deal for $21.5 million back in August, have lowered prices for a second time. You can now buy the combo deal for $18.495 million. [Cityfile, Corcoran]
• Alan Alda and his wife Arlene have paid $3 million for a two-bedroom, 51st-floor apartment at the Millennium Tower on West 67th Street, the same building where they purchased two adjoining apartments in 2000 for $4.9 million. [NYP]

♦ Spanx CEO Sara Blakely and her husband, Marquis Jets co-founder Jesse Itzler (left), have gone into contract to sell their 14th-floor condo at 15 CPW, less than a year after they picked up the place from Smart Flyer owner Michael Holtz for $8.5 million. ♦ Morgan Stanley managing director Guy Metcalfe, who paid $9.35 million for a five-bedroom apartment at 15 CPW in October and then re-listed the spread for $16.5 million just two weeks later, has now dropped the asking price to $13.75 million. [Cityfile, Corcoran]
♦ Xerox CEO Anne Mulcahy sold her 24th-floor apartment at 400 East 51st Street for $3.8 million to newly-appointed Novartis CEO Rober Pelzer. [NYO]

♦ Lenny Kravitz has slashed the price of his SoHo penthouse yet again. Most recently listed for $18.75 million, the loft on Crosby Street is now on the market for just $14.995 million. [Curbed, Corcoran]
♦ Hedge funder Scott Bommer and his wife Donya are looking to unload another eight-figure apartment. The Bommers set records when they paid $46 million for a co-op at 1060 Fifth in January and then sold it for $48.5 million a few months later. Now they've put their 29th-floor apartment at the Ritz-Carlton on the market for $35 million, less than four months after purchasing it for $28.5 million. [NYT, Corcoran]
♦ Sundance Film Festival co-director Geoffrey Gilmore and film producer Julie le Brocquy have paid $2.475 million for a three-bedroom condo at 25 Central Park West. [Cityfile]

Yesterday we shared with you New York City's most expensive apartment rentals, just in case you haven't been killed in the market these past few weeks (or maybe you won the Powerball a few weeks ago?) and have been looking to upgrade to a fantastic apartment without making a long-term commitment. Today we've rounded up the 20 most expensive apartments for sale in the city. Pick up an overpriced co-op on Park Avenue for $30 million and you'll sleep better at night knowing you played a key role in boosting the city's ailing economy! (At the very least, you'll know you paid for a few years of private school for some lucky real estate broker.) One note: This list only includes "official" listings, which means apartments that are only rumored to be for sale (such as Richard Ullman's $75 million penthouse at 15 CPW or Courtney Sale Ross' duplex at 740 Park) aren't represented. But there's plenty of overpriced property to choose from regardless!

The stock market is down nearly 500 points this afternoon, we're in the middle of a deep recession, and tens of thousands of New Yorkers have lost their jobs. But if by some crazy chance you've managed to avoid the pain and suffering and you're looking for, say, a five-bedroom penthouse in Midtown, it's never been a better time to swoop down and make an offer. The prices of dozens of luxe apartments have been slashed in recent weeks. And while the rental market hasn't been crushed just yet, prices are very, very negotiable. That $60,000-a-month rental? You might just be able to offer up $30K a month and walk away with a deal. ♦ Pharma mogul Richard Ullman is reportedly the man behind the new $75 million listing at 15 CPW. Ullman paid just $23.5 million for the 18th-floor duplex penthouse back when he bought it in March. [NYO]
♦ Jewelry exec Leonard Littman and his wife Barbara have sold their 44th-floor apartment at the Museum Tower on West 53rd Street for $5.5 million. The couple originally listed the two-bedroom condo for $6.45 million back in July. [Cityfile]
♦ UBS exec Ramesh Singh is having a hard time unloading the two Park Avenue apartments he has on the market. His co-op at 860 Park was first listed for $13.4 million; it's now down to $9.5 million. Meanwhile, his 15-room duplex at 823 Park, which was originally listed $24.75 million, is now $19.95 million, less than what he paid for it four months ago. [NYO, Corcoran, BHS]

♦ Late fashion mogul (and Showgirls producer) Charles Evans' triplex apartment at 895 Park, which had already been cut from $29.5 million to $25 million in May, has been lowered once again. It's now $20 million. [NYO, Stribling]
♦ Morgan Stanley managing director Guy Metcalfe has paid $9.35 million for a five-bedroom, second-floor apartment at 15 Central Park West. [Real Deal]
♦ TV legend Dick Cavett sold 77 acres of waterfront property in Montauk to the Town of East Hampton, Suffolk County and New York State for $18 mil. The land will be used as part of a wetland conservation site. [Hamptons.com]

♦ Real estate exec Chuck Berman and his wife Melanie paid $6.7 million for a three-bedroom apartment at 15 Central Park West. [Cityfile]
♦ Oscar Schafer, the managing partner of OSS Capital, has lowered the price of his 17th-floor apartment at the Plaza for the second time since June. It's now $14.5 million (down from $18 million), which means he'll be taking a loss on the property if he sells it, since he purchased it for $14.94 million back in May. [NYP]
♦ Rupert Murdoch and Wendi Deng have taken their 11-bedroom Centre Island home off the market. It recently had an asking price of $12.8 mil. [Newsday]

♦ Jimmy Breslin and his wife, former City Councilmember Ronnie Eldridge, have sold their condo at 2000 Broadway for $3.3 million. The 1,745-square-foot penthouse has two bedrooms, three baths, and, according to the listing, a terrace with "movie-set views." [Cityfile]
♦ Casino mogul Richard Fields has knocked 10 percent off the price of his 38th floor apartment at 15 CPW. The three-bedroom condo is now listed at $31.5 million. [Curbed, Sotheby's]
♦ Retired oil exec Victor Grijalva has sold his four-bedroom spread at 525 Park Avenue for $9.2 million. The buyer is financier Habib Kairouz and his wife Lara. [NYO]

♦ James Frey has cut $500,000 off the price of his condo at 505 Greenwich Street, less than a month after first listing the place. The four-bedroom spread, which Frey bought as two separate units and later combined, is now on the market for $4.5 million. [Curbed, Corcoran]
♦ Farid Naib, founder of the finance software company FNX Limited, paid $2.29 million for a seventh-floor loft at 288 West Street. [Cityfile]

♦ Daily Show executive producer David Javerbaum and his wife Debra paid $3.65 million for a fifth-floor apartment in the Yves Chelsea at 127 Seventh Ave. [Cityfile]
