The investigation grew out of the short-lived Moreland Commission.

Andy Cush · 08/27/14 12:30PMThe New York Times Is Just as Corrupt and Cowardly as Andrew Cuomo
Tom Scocca · 08/27/14 12:08PMThe New York Times editorial board, with great pride in its own high-mindedness, has refused to endorse Andrew Cuomo's campaign for renomination as governor of New York in the upcoming Democratic primary. As the Times' reporters have amply documented, Andrew Cuomo is, in his role as a self-appointed champion of clean politics, a gutless fraud at best, and at worst a crook. Having sworn to rid Albany of its toxic and comical culture of gross corruption, he promptly and comically corrupted his own reform effort. The Times editorial board says so—that Cuomo "broke his most important promise."
Andrew Cuomo’s Ethics Panel Exposes Andrew Cuomo’s Shadiness
J.K. Trotter · 07/23/14 12:30PMLast year, Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic governor of New York, assembled an independent ethics panel to expose the pernicious, deep-rooted culture of corruption in Albany. In its own way, it worked: Today’s New York Times has a big feature recounting how Cuomo sought to steer—and in some cases quash—the panel’s investigations when they got too close to his own turf.

Cuomo's Inaction Could Kill Medical Marijuana in New York
Andy Cush · 06/16/14 03:00PMLast week, after years of back-and-forth, it looked like New York might finally pass medical marijuana. Governor Andrew Cuomo, who opposed the idea as recently as last year, was basically on board, and the Compassionate Care Act had already passed the state Assembly. All that was left was the Senate, where the bill reportedly had more than enough support.

John Cook · 09/11/13 10:21AMLetting People Get High is One of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's Top Priorities in 2013
Jordan Sargent · 01/10/13 07:39PMIt will already be less risky to possess marijuana in New York City in 2013 after a Manhattan judge ruled against the NYPD's "stop and frisk" program. Well, okay, that applies to minorities, who were the only ones arrested and jailed for possessing small amounts of marijuana discovered during "stop and frisk" in the first place. But if New York governor Andrew Cuomo has his way, it won't be an issue for anyone in the state any longer.
Governor Cuomo: 'Extreme Weather, I Believe, Is Here to Stay'
Robert Kessler · 11/08/12 03:19PMAt a news conference today, Governor Cuomo gave the first estimate on exactly what the cost of Hurricane Sandy is going to be, stating that the storm cost the mid-Atlantic region $50 billion and New York state specifically $33 billion. Assuming this number does not go up (it likely will) Hurricane Sandy is officially the second-costliest hurricane in U.S. history.
Public Transportation Shut Down in New York as East Coast Inches Closer to Apocalypse
Jordan Sargent · 10/28/12 10:12AMHurricane Sandy is currently enjoying a nice leisurely Sunday off the coast of South Carolina as she prepares for her jaunt up the coast en route to the finest cities the East Coast has to offer (and, yes, I mean Atlantic City). Current projections show that Sandy should be touching down in South Jersey around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning — she is expected to cross the state into Pennsylvania before heading north through western New York into Canada, where she will presumably stay if Mitt Romney has defeated Barack Obama.
Jon Stewart Points Out NJ Governor Chris Christie's Ideological Hypocrisy
Matt Toder · 06/27/12 10:27PMNew York Governor Andrew Cuomo's pot decriminalization bill may be all but dead but the issue is still alive in New Jersey where the state legislature is considering the idea. All that stands in the way is the promise of a veto from Governor Chris Christie, who won't go against federal drug policy. And that's funny because he's perfectly willing to flout federal gambling policies.

Louis Peitzman · 06/10/12 02:33PMJon Stewart Reconciles New York's Proposed Soda Ban With Proposed Marijuana Decriminalization
Matt Toder · 06/07/12 10:34PMIn New York, you may not be able to drink large quantities of soda but, if Governor Cuomo's new proposed marijuana decriminalization becomes law, you will be able to carry around an ounce of weed without it being a misdemeanor. On tonight's Daily Show, Jon Stewart had a little trouble reconciling these two ideas.
Earthquake Strikes New York
Lauri Apple · 08/27/11 05:14PMNo, Andrew Cuomo Will Not Be Your New Vice Presidential Candidate
Jim Newell · 07/05/11 03:19PMFew rituals these past couple of years have been more fruitless and illogical than pretending that Barack Obama will pick a new vice presidential candidate for 2012, rested on the notion that such a move would in any way be helpful. Is Joe Biden, in any meaningful sense, a political liability for Barack Obama? Would the switch from one centrist Democrat to another really trick the broad middle of America's electorate into forgetting about our shitty economy?
