Atoosa, You Are Still in the Running Towards Becoming America's Next Top Something

Jessica · 09/20/06 09:10AM

Today in the wild, wacky and self-promoting world of Seventeen editor Atoosa Rubenstein, the 'Toos has apparently struck a deal with the freaks behind the model "dramality" show, America's Next Top Model: Cycle 47. According to WWD, the winning model will land the mag's February cover and Rubenstein will be joining the show as a judge. At least she's keeping busy; it's not like she has anything better to do, like edit a magazine or something.

Trouble at Big Momma's House?

Is there anyone out there who hasn't been approached to work at Seventeen? We're hearing from a number of sources that Atoosa Rubenstein may have more friends on MySpace than she does in the workplace. One former staffer named the names:

As mentioned yesterday, the only big-name MySpacer you can trust is Seventeen editor Atoosa Rubenstein. Her profile is authentic, the real deal from the coolest girl at the lunch table. Atoosa also has a MySpace blog, and we'd like to apologize for not paying more attention to her collected works. Failing to spread the magic of the 'Toos is an inexcusable disservice to insecure, self-loathing adolescents everywhere. From her latest entry:

Remainders: Toos Is a Virgin Who Can't Drive

Seventeen EIC Atoosa Rubenstein continues to drop verbal gems wherever she goes. At Gotham Hall last night, she let it be known that in high school, no one wanted to have sex with her because of her hairy "werewolf legs." Well, now we know. But we wish we didn't. [Muckracked]

Atoosa Rubenstein, the Orchid of 'Seventeen'

Jessica · 04/21/06 10:35AM

A spy reports to us that Seventeen editor Atoosa Rubenstein spoke at Columbia j-school last night as part of their Delacorte lecture series, which is hosted by Victor Navasky. Navasky referred to Rubenstein as "Toos" and started things off by asking, "Does Seventeen accept 73-year-old male interns?"

'Seventeen' Markets on MySpace

We should've known: Despite all the obvious dangers, Seventeen has an official MySpace account. According to the profile, the magazine is single, a Libra, and enjoys watching MTV's Miss Seventeen reality show. Totally normal for a teen. But?

Mag Flashback: Snagging a Man the Millie Way

Well, yes. So Atoosa Rubenstein might be a touch retrograde and anorexia-inducing in her off-the-cuff fashion pronouncements — "I feel like I want to start starving myself so I can wear those clothes now," she said of a Fashion Week collection — but at least she hasn't revived as a promo for her Seventeen an old Mademoiselle premium MUGger Charlie Suisman pointed us to today: The Manhunt Scarf, copyrighted by the Conde Nast Publications in 1963.

MTV's Miss Seventeen, Your New Religion

Jessica · 10/18/05 10:30AM

Last night marked the premiere of MTV's latest reality abortion, Miss Seventeen, in which a gaggle of teenaged girltards compete for the approval of Seventeen EIC Atoosa Rubenstein in weekly competitions of character; the winner snags a coveted internship at the legendary girl mag. In short, the summer job you worked your ass off for in college has been reduced to a reality competition for the tween network.
