Stanford professor Andrei Linde wasn't the only one celebrating the Big Bang discovery yesterday. "It is another confirmation of inflation," Stephen Hawking told the BBC. "It also means I win a bet with [physicist] Neil Turok." Hawking's last wager over the Higgs-Boson particle cost him $100; it's not clear what he won this time.

Yesterday, Community, NBC's sitcom about the odd and endearing relationship between a diverse group of community college students, was named TV Guide Magazine's fan-favorite comedy, and its fan-favorite ensemble. Its time slot competitor Big Bang Theory, the Caltech-set CBS comedy about a pair of nerd genius roommates, didn't win in any category.

The ratings are in for America Idol's two-part premiere this week and the numbers aren't good. It's average ratings among 18-44 year-olds (the only people the universe cares about) dropped 44% from two years ago. Yeah, that's almost half.

Not as much as Roseanne won in the lottery, but still a lot. Also today: House's sexy doctor lady gets a new movie role, as does sexy Kevin James, while Robert Redford's latest movie gets a deal.

Remember when we said the Shit My Dad Says pilot lived up to its name? CBS agrees. After recasting the lead and reshooting scenes, they're comparing it to Big Bang Theory, which also required an overhaul between pilot and premiere.

Now that all the networks have revealed their fall schedules to potential advertisers—CBS presented its equally clueless lineup this morning—it's time for cable to shine. Not surprisingly, TBS started off with the network's new leading man, Conan O'Brien.
