Amy Sedaris Buys Co-op Off Fifth

cityfile · 06/23/08 03:02PM

"Quirky" comedienne and author Amy Sedaris has gone into contract on a fourth-floor apartment at 50 West 9th Street, off Fifth Avenue. Listed at $1.25 million, the one-bedroom co-op features arched doorways, a wood-burning fireplace, and all the original wood ceiling beams, floors, doors, and hardware. Amy won't be making the move from her current digs on Christopher Street alone: Her pet rabbit Dusty, her collection of plastic food (like the ham bone, right) and possibly the ghost of her murdered imaginary boyfriend, Ricky, are expected to go along for the ride. Photos of Sedaris's new abode below.

cityfile · 06/19/08 02:21PM

More than six months after she first went into contract on a Southampton home, Rachael Ray and her husband John Cusimano have finally closed on the $2.9 million property. For their money (or Rachael's money, anyway) the couple is getting a three-bedroom European-style villa, bordered by two golf courses. (Southampton and Shinnecock, in case you were wondering.) The 6.2-acre property also features a heated pool, ponds, and a two-bedroom guest house. Take a look around after the jump.

Chuck Prince Is Still Looking for a Buyer

cityfile · 06/19/08 09:02AM
  • Chuck Prince is having a hard time selling his home in Greenwich. In the six months he's had the English-style mansion on the market, he's slashed the price by $300,000. The five-bedroom home on 2.4 acres (with wood-paneled library, exercise room, pool, sauna) can now be yours for $5.85 million. Prince shouldn't miss the manse much. The former Citigroup CEO and his wife Margaret spend most of their time at their expansive apartment at 550 Park Ave. [Bloomberg, Cleveland, Duble & Arnold]

Malcolm Gladwell Buys West Village Walkup

cityfile · 06/16/08 07:23AM

Wild-haired journo-celeb Malcolm Gladwell has gone into contract on a 900-square-foot, two-bedroom, walk-up in the Village. The 23 Bank Street co-op, which had an asking price of $1.4 million, is located inside an 1850s townhouse and features a skylight, two decorative marble fireplaces, and a renovated kitchen. But he appears to be downsizing a bit. In 2005, he sold his Tribeca apartment for $1.9 million and decamped to a rental in the Village. So is he now hunkering down given the turbulence in the real estate market or suggesting the downturn has reached its tipping point. Let us know, MG. In the meantime, photos of Gladwell's new pad follow after the jump.

Lyor Cohen Buys on the Beach

cityfile · 06/12/08 03:04PM

Now that he's reported to be dating fashion princess Tory Burch, it's not all that surprising that Lyor Cohen is the process of trading up in the Hamptons. The Warner Music CEO recently layed out $6.8 million for a place in North Haven. Unfortunately, the happy couple won't be able to stay there for a while, since Lyor's planning on tearing down the existing house to make room for an even bigger, more fashionable manse. (They'll continue staying at Lyor's Bridgehampton home in the meantime.) So what exactly does the $6.8 million teardown look like? Have a gander at the home (and the 170 feet of waterfront land with beach access) before it's gone.

Heidi Klum Leaves the Village, For Now

cityfile · 06/11/08 11:06AM
  • Project Runway hostess Heidi Klum is leaving her Bank Street pad, now that the deal to sell her penthouse has officially closed. Although the $5.35 million sale price is less than the $5.6 million the apartment was rumored to be going for, the two-bedroom was too small to fit her (rapidly expanding) family, who will remain in LA for the time being.

The O'Neill Building apartment they're leaving behind features three bedrooms, two terraces, and two floors of living space. More pics after the jump.
