Community, Dan Harmon's comedy that refuses to die, was picked up for a sixth season of 13 episodes by Yahoo today. It was a last-minute save: the cast's contracts with Sony, which produces the series, were set to expire today.

Good news, Human Beings: Community could reach six seasons after all.

Much like Abed Nadir's favorite superhero show, The Cape, NBC's Community lasted a lot longer than anyone expected. Community survived having Chevy Chase as a main cast member and Dan Harmon as its showrunner, and then it survived with no Dan Harmon and no Chevy Chase. And then Harmon again.

Maybe people will watch the show now?

After three and a half years, Chevy Chase is done at Community. The agreement to part ways was apparently mutual and will take place immediately. Chase's departure won't have much of an impact on the critically-acclaimed show's fourth season - all but two of the season's episodes had already been filmed – but it will likely have a positive impact on the sitcom's morale.

This "Pin Up Special" starring Community's Alison Brie and Gillian Jacobs was filmed last year as part of Mark Seliger's Bettie Page homage for GQ, but hadn't seen the light of day until it suddenly popped up online over the weekend.

Community's truncated fourth season was supposed to premiere tonight on NBC, but instead the show has been shelved indefinitely.

Boy, NBC must really dislike Community fans. What other logical explanation could there be for the way the Peacock Network keeps messing with them?

Chevy Chase is an asshole: this is nothing new.

Details are scarce, but TV Guide is reporting that Community creator Dan Harmon is "close" to putting his John Hancock on a deal to write a pilot for Fox.

Tired of studios and suits for obvious reasons, Community creator Dan Harmon has taken his next project directly to the people through the crowdfunding website Kickstarter, and brought screenwriter Charlie Kaufman along with him.

The circumstances of Dan Harmon's removal as Community's showrunner are emerging, and they're not pretty. Harmon's version of events, which he shared late last night on his Tumblr, explains that he learned about Sony's controversial decision about the same way we did.

News just broke that Sony has not extended the contract of Community showrunner Dan Harmon. Instead of signing him for two years at the end of season 2, as is customary, Harmon and Sony agreed to a one year deal and now that Community has been renewed, Harmon is out. Somewhere in Southern California, Chevy Chase is smiling.

It was tense for a while there, but after last night's word that NBC has picked up 30 Rock and Community for additional — albeit abbreviated — seasons, today brings news that their Thursday night siblings Parks & Recreation and The Office have been renewed as well.

As expected, 30 Rock has been renewed by NBC for a seventh and final season.

Yesterday, Community, NBC's sitcom about the odd and endearing relationship between a diverse group of community college students, was named TV Guide Magazine's fan-favorite comedy, and its fan-favorite ensemble. Its time slot competitor Big Bang Theory, the Caltech-set CBS comedy about a pair of nerd genius roommates, didn't win in any category.

"When you become famous, you've got like a year or two where you act like a real asshole," Bill Murray told Tom Shales and James Miller when they interviewed him for Live from New York, their oral history of Saturday Night Live. "You can't help yourself. It happens to everybody. You've got like two years to pull it together — or it's permanent." He was talking, of course, about Chevy Chase, his opponent in a famous backstage fistfight. The two are friendly now, and it seems as though Murray wanted to imply that Chase had "pulled himself together" following his sudden rise to fame.

I have no trouble picking a side in the feud between Dan Harmon and Chevy Chase. (Team Harmon, in case that wasn't immediately clear.) But inevitably, it doesn't matter: Chase did some things, Harmon said some things, Chase said some things back. Maybe they're both at fault, in which case I should probably be writing a more measured analysis of their beef.

Looks like Chevy Chase and Community creator Dan Harmon are embroiled in a good ol' fashioned Hollyweirdo fight. I guess Dan told Chevy his wife is fat or something and then Chevy responded in the best way he knew how: with words, venomous, powerful words.
