Inside the Media Matters, Clinton, Obama Love Triangle

Maggie · 11/16/07 05:20PM

There were three separate pieces today on "watchdog" website Media Matters complaining about how badly Barack Obama has been manhandled by the press. The first piece takes aim at Good Morning America, the New York Sun and The Politico. The second impugns CNN anchor and debate moderator Suzanne Malveaux, and the third takes a long mean look at by U.S. News & World Report editor David Gergen. Hey, Media Matters, why the crush on Obama?

Brearley School Loves iPods, Uses iPods, Promotes iPods

Maggie · 10/09/07 04:30PM

The Times trots out that, duh, iPods are being utilized as an academic tool in some schools! The paper notes that Brearley School (disclosure, disclosure, I went there) has been using iPods for foreign language, music, English and drama classes for the last several years. Not a bad idea, merging cultural phenomena with scholastic curricula, and it sounds like an effective learning tool. Yay! Well, actually, we were disturbed a smidge by something. What kind of fee is Apple paying Brearley's head-of-school Stephanie Hull for her testimonials? Or is she just perversely testifying for free?

Hey, Why's Everyone Leaving 'In Touch' At Once?

Doree Shafrir · 08/17/07 03:50PM

What's going on with the Englewood, N.J. celeb weekly? Well! Staffers are leaving for Star, of all places, and In Touch keeps insisting that Brad and Angelina are on the rocks, despite all photographic and other evidence to the contrary. And... they're in New Jersey? Yeah. Today, Keith Kelly reported that two In Touch editors, Casey Brennan and Aaron Rasmussen, have fled to the welcoming arms of Star Mama Candace Trunzo—and now senior reporter Cristina Everett has left as well, to become a senior reporter. So in what known universe is Star considered actually a desirable place to work?

Jake Gyllenhaal Just Loves Chefs

Doree Shafrir · 08/15/07 01:40PM

"Oh No They Didn't" is alleging that chef Chris Fischer is Jake Gyllenhaal's boyfriend—Fischer was (perhaps still is?) a sous chef at Babbo. The two were most recently spotted running a race on Martha's Vineyard. That is so clearly gay! (That was sarcastic.) There are two camps of crazy gays these days: the other camp thinks that Jake and actor Austin Nichols were until recently dating. But we're going to go with Chris (even though his people have also been heard defending Chris and Jake's relationship by saying that they've been friends since childhood), because, clearly, Jake has had a thing for chefs for forever.
