Last year, International Business Times reporter David Sirota filed a Freedom of Information Act request for emails between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the United States Trade Representative, a federal agency concerned with negotiating international trade policy, in which the two offices discussed the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a widely-criticized pact among the United States and eleven other countries, including Australia, Canada, and Mexico. Last week, the State Department notified Sirota about the progress of his request: The agency would not provide the emails until the end of November—three weeks after the 2016 presidential election.

iPhone software development kit will be late

The software that allows programmers to build third-party software for the iPhone will be delayed one to three weeks beyond its February 2008 ship date. Shipping delays have become de rigueur for the company: In January, the Apple TV 2.0 software upgrade was delayed by two weeks. Last April, Apple announced it would be delaying the release of its next generation operating system to October because of the iPhone's pending release. No reasoning was given this time, but we wonder if Apple has sufficient human capital to turn all of Steve Jobs's fantasies into reality. (Photo by AP/Paul Sakuma)

Palm says their new smartphone OS won't be released until the end of 2008. The new system is progressing "as well as possibly could be expected," executives say. Sounds like that plan to split off Palm's software division isn't working out that well. Shareholders, we hope you aren't still holding your breath. [The Register]
