Not a good night for trains — Metro-North service got suspended for about two hours tonight, leaving stranded a huge crowd of people with one singular purpose: getting out of New York City.

Although the signal was repaired around 9:40 pm, departures from Grand Central are still massively delayed. Amtrak's northeastern lines were disrupted as well — passengers on at least one Acela headed to Boston were told they would have to back up to the closest station where they should attempt to find an alternate form of transportation.
