Moises de la Renta, Creative Multitasker

cityfile · 01/07/09 08:41AM

For any mere mortal with an unfamous last name, now would be about the worst time to launch a new business. But no such earthly considerations apply when you're fashion royalty like Moises de la Renta, Oscar de la Renta's adopted son, who tells Paper's Paul Johnson-Calderon that he's now working on a womenswear label, MDLR, as well as starting up a small design firm or "hub." PJC also reveals that Moises is an "uber-talented photographer," which makes it all the sadder that his relationship with camera-obsessed social Genevieve Jones didn't last long enough to earn her a thick portfolio of glossy pics.

♦ Best outfit worn to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards last night: Agyness Deyn's tux-style black suit with Marc Jacobs hat and red platforms. Absolute worst: Blake Lively's hideous Vena Cava dress, which we can only imagine was chosen to fulfill a contractual obligation to expose her boobs at all times. [stylefile, Teen Vogue]

Fashion Week Highlights: Day Six

cityfile · 09/11/08 10:16AM

» The scene at Michael Kors was inevitably the central portion of the fashion industry/magazine world/reality TV venn diagram: Nina Garcia, Rachel Zoe with her client Joy Bryant, Heidi Klum, Joanna Coles, and Joe Zee drew the limelight away from Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Aerin Lauder Zinterhofer, Blake Lively, Bette Midler, and Kors' mom Joan. On the runway the (smiling!) models, who were told "you are the most glamorous beach bums in the world," showed off middle-of-the-road, cheerful outfits with polka dots and gingham aplenty.
