The sheriff’s deputy who shot and killed a teenage boy carrying a fake gun in Santa Rosa, Calif. last week has been identified. A hunter, war veteran, and firearms enthusiast, the deputy has publicly promoted the importance of staying "mean" when "ambushed." In 1995, he also shot himself in the leg.

Two elementary school students from Chino, Calif. were taken to the hospital for minor injuries Wednesday after a young student “accidentally discharged” a police rifle on campus. The rifle, mounted on a police motorcycle that was on display, was part of a drug-awareness presentation.

On Oct. 14, Bobby Gerald Bennett of Dallas, 59, of Dallas, Texas began acting erratically. While Bennett sat in a swivel chair in the middle of the cul de sac holding a knife, his mother, Joyce Jackson, called the police and asked the dispatcher to send officers who were trained in dealing with the mentally ill.

Gun Groups Declare Newtown Massacre Anniversary "Guns Save Lives Day"

A trio of pro-gun groups has come together to declare December 14, the one-year anniversary of last year's horrific Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, "Guns Save Lives Day." Because when you think about all the people saved by America's many, many handguns and rifles and shotguns, what springs to mind but the day when 26 innocent people—20 of them children—were slaughtered with guns?

A man armed with what appeared to be an “assault-type rifle” fired two dozen rounds at the Federal Building in Wheeling, West Virginia on Wednesday before he was shot and killed by police. One security guard was injured and reports now confirm the shooter was a retired Wheeling police officer.

There have been reports of gunshots at Princeton University's Nassau Hall. University officials say no one is hurt but they have set up a perimeter around the building. Students are reporting via Twitter that the helicopters are now leaving and that it doesn't seem to be an "active shooter" situation.
