Gucci celebrated the launch of its Tattoo Heart Collection on Wednesday, a line of products that benefits UNICEF. Rihanna, who is the new face of the campaign, was joined Gucci creative director Frida Giannini at a snowflake lighting ceremony at the Grand Army Plaza, which was followed by an event at Gucci's flagship and dinner at the Plaza's Oak Room. Two weeks ago the news surfaced that Viacom chief Sumner Redstone and his second wife, Paula Fortunato, were divorcing after five years of marriage. Much was made of Redstone and Fortunato's 39-year age gap and the couple's pre-nup, which will provide Fortunato with a $5 million fortuno for the five years she spent by the not-so-healthy billionaire's side. Sir Harry and Tina Brown are the closest thing the New York scene has to a royal couple. (Tina is Tina, and Harry is more charming and also better-looking than HRH Prince Charles of Edinburg.) On Sunday, aboard the Manhattan-sized cruise ship the Queen Mary II, they hosted a luncheon to benefit the American Institute for Stuttering. (Their son George for many years had a severe stutter.) Katie Couric was the M.C. Carly Simon was an honoree. Jack Welch sat in turtle-like repose as did, closer to the back, a very disengaged former gossip columnist Lloyd Grove. Candace Bushnell promised to set me up on a blind date and despite the early call to port—11 a.m.!—the champagne flowed freely. Mrs. Tina Brown gets a firm drubbing in the transcript released of Rupert Murdoch with two Wall Street Journal reporters. Harry Evans was the editor of the London Times a million years ago. Rupert says:

News of the World, the Sunday paper most likely to be sued by a celebrity and with England's biggest circ, and the London Times, the former home of Harry Evans, have cut 50 editorial positions. If these News International company papers are among Rupert Murdoch's more successful holdings (the Times less so), and overall they're going to cut 60 million bucks out of the annual budget, it must be grim for his least. Why would he allow this now, when he's still wooing the Bancroft family for Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal and trying to squeeze on his most lovable mogul mask?

Who's behind the barely literate yet endlessly compelling socialite PR organ cum bitchy LiveJournal that is Socialite Rank? It's become this weird question that everyone keeps asking and no one ever answers. But in anticipation of SR themed expos s in Vanity Fair and New York, not to mention SR's big "announcement" next week, Radar's Sarah Horne has created a poll where you can vote for your favorite suspect. Genius! Crazy genius, in fact, because after dispatching the usual suspects (Lauren Davis, Derek Blasberg, Peter Davis, etc), Radar fingers (ew!) Tina Brown and Harry Evans, among other extreme wild cards. We're voting for Russian fashion writers Olga and Valentine Rei, mostly because it makes total sense to assume that SR isn't written by native English speakers ("It's all leading up to the few crowing events during the next few weeks," reads a recent post). But then there's this analysis of why the poison-pen blogger isn't gossip boy made good Hud Morgan: "His grasp on the English language is somewhat more evolved than whoever pens SR." Actually, maybe SR is Radar's Sarah Horne!

The significance of holding last night's party to celebrate the New York Observer and its new website at the Four Seasons restaurant was intentional, obvious, and not at all lost on anyone. Despite its recent Frank Bruni demotion to two New York Times stars, the restaurant remains the symbolic and probably actual center of New York old-guard media power. After so many years of playing gadfly to the media, politics, and real estate elite of this city, the Observer and its boy-owner and his advisers chose to make a very specific sort of statement.

Forbes' agenda-setting media reporter this week catches up with an up-and-comer named Harry Evans, and he fills us in on the breaking news that Evans is married to Tina Brown, used to edit London's Times, and currently does some work for Felix Dennis's The Week. (Who knew?) We particularly like his meet-cute account of how Evans and Brown first met:
